ENERGY STAR in New Zealand
Since 2005 ENERGY STAR has been promoted in New Zealand by EECA.
ENERGY STAR is a key part of EECA's successful products programme. The programme focuses on providing consumer choice among the most efficient products and eliminating the worst energy performers through regulation. Together with ENERGY STAR, this provides an incentive for manufacturers to constantly improve the energy efficiency of products.
Information on ENERGY STAR and energy efficient products in general, is an integral part of EECA's ongoing ENERGYWISETM information programme. ENERGYWISETM activities increase awareness and promote the benefits of energy efficient technologies and practices across all sectors of the New Zealand economy.
A key part of this activity is in supporting consumer choice and motivating people to take action. This is helped by highlighting programmes such as ENERGY STAR, and EECA works closely with ENERGY STAR partners to achieve this goal.
