The number of battery electric commercial and heavy vehicles is increasing on New Zealand roads.
In response to market demand, EECA is planning a Request for Proposals for a Heavy Vehicle Charging Infrastructure round of the Low Emission Transport Fund. Standard LETF details can be found here:
This round of the LETF will demonstrate innovative technologies that are part of publicly available charging stations.
It will not support projects that are solely chargers; rather, projects that enable the grid to support wider uptake of these chargers.

Ahead of the RFP going live in February 2025, EECA encourages potentially interested parties to get in touch via listing on the Government Electronic Tendering Service (GETS).
This Advance Notice is aimed at suppliers of commercial or heavy EV charging, or any other party interested in, or intending to be part of, a publicly available heavy EV charging project. These parties may include fleet operators, energy providers, electricity distributors, ports etc.
The process will run from 22 October to 13 December 2024.
