The Government is shifting the way it supports EV charging infrastructure away from the grant co-funding that has traditionally been used.
Instead, the Government is considering alternative co-investment approaches that maximise private sector investment and enable the recycling of Crown capital, such as concessionary loans.
This Request for Information (RFI) process will gather information to inform a recommended co-investment approach to be considered by Cabinet.
It is being run by EECA on behalf of the cross-government Supercharging EV Infrastructure Taskforce, which includes the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, Ministry of Transport and Crown Infrastructure Partners.
The work to update the government’s co-investment approach is part of a wider Supercharging EV Infrastructure work programme which aims to address barriers to private investment and accelerate the public charging infrastructure rollout.
Submissions
Chargepoint operators and investors are invited to make submissions through the Government Electronic Tendering Service (GETS).
The RFI closes for submissions on Friday 25 October.
Check out our tools
We're monitoring Aotearoa New Zealand's public EV charging network rollout, as well as helping communities spot opportunities to plan infrastructure.
Below are two EECA Data Tools designed to aid in these processes.
-
Public EV Charger Dashboard
The Public EV Charging Insights Dashboard provides a national view of current and planned EV charging infrastructure plus several EV charging metrics.
-
Community EV Charger Planner
A tool to help identify where local EV charging infrastructure is required to meet the future uptake of EVs in New Zealand.
