The Government Investment in Decarbonising Industry (GIDI) Fund provided support for businesses to switch from fossil fuels to cleaner, more efficient, energy sources across the industrial and commercial sectors.
GIDI was part of the government’s Climate Emergency Response Fund (CERF) and was funded via proceeds from the Emissions Trading Scheme.
Under GIDI several products were offered and tailored to New Zealand’s highest energy users, medium to large industrial processing, commercial buildings and more recently SMEs.
The funding previously allocated to the GIDI Fund has now been withdrawn and reprioritised. This means that EECA is no longer taking applications to the GIDI Fund. All approved projects with existing contracts will continue.
